Mojang Studios unveiled The Sift during Minecraft Live. It is the franchise's first new dimension in more than 14 years and will debut in Minecraft Dungeons II when the sequel launches on September 29, 2026. It will also join Minecraft Java and Bedrock in 2027 as the base game's fourth dimension alongside the Overworld, Nether and End.
Minecraft Dungeons II replaces separate mission selection with an interconnected world. Rifts across that world transport players to The Sift, a colourful dimension filled with souls, friendly and hostile creatures, hazardous blocks and shifting tides that affect characters and their surroundings. Mojang revealed the Meadow and Carapace biomes while keeping other areas secret.
The studio has not yet explained how players will access The Sift in Minecraft Java and Bedrock or set a specific date within 2027. LanzaBit preserves that release window without estimating a month or day and does not assign the update to individual platforms until Mojang details its rollout.
Minecraft Live also previewed an upcoming Game Drop with no confirmed date or release window. It introduces ice caves with icicles, glowing crystals and a frozen zombie variant that can inflict freezing and throw ice balls. The Minecraft Dungeons II page retains its September 29 launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, and now includes official details and images from The Sift.
