Frictional Games has released ten minutes of extended ONTOS gameplay, offering a closer look at its sci-fi adventure and spiritual successor to SOMA. The demonstration focuses on one of Samsara's experiments inside a former moon hotel transformed into a scientific facility filled with factions, laboratories and analog systems.
The sequence introduces Crombie, a consciousness claiming to be stored in a server built from sixty rats. Before intervening, players can research nearby rooms, collect information about the characters and test tools to better understand the consequences of each action.
Experiments do not have a single prescribed solution. Players can manipulate machinery, follow instructions, search for alternative methods or respond differently based on what they have learned. Frictional Games says these choices can change the immediate outcome and create consequences throughout the wider story.
ONTOS launches in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. No month or specific day has been confirmed, so LanzaBit keeps the release as a yearly window and has added a complete game page featuring the new official gameplay.
