Xbox and Kojima Productions have announced that Microsoft will publish PHYSINT, Hideo Kojima's action-espionage project. The game originated as a partnership with PlayStation Studios, but Sony has said it decided to step away from the project.

Kojima said his studio received notice that the collaboration had been cancelled in June and spent the following three months searching for a new partner. The Xbox agreement keeps PHYSINT in development and expands a relationship that already included OD, the horror game the two companies are producing together.

Xbox and Kojima Productions will also collaborate on film and television projects, although those productions have not been detailed. The companies describe PHYSINT as an attempt to redefine the action-espionage genre, but no gameplay or launch window has been revealed.

The final platforms have not been confirmed either. LanzaBit has created a PHYSINT game page without assigning speculative systems or a release date and will update it when Xbox or Kojima Productions publishes those details.
