Nintendo has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will launch November 5, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was part of the series' 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct, which showed an extended gameplay sequence for the first time.
The 1998 adventure has been rebuilt from the ground up with overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue and symphonic orchestral music. Nintendo has also revised the camera and movement: Link can jump and run using new button commands, while the day and night cycle now continues even inside towns.
The new version lets players hum learned melodies near the Switch 2 system's built-in microphone so Link performs them on the ocarina. Zelda Notes adds progress tracking, location hints, a virtual ocarina and a daily quiz with more than 2,000 questions.
Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures will be sold separately in 2027 and unlock masks with a retro visual style. The 40th Anniversary console and accessories launch earlier, on October 29, but are not included with the standard game.
