Silent Hill: Townfall details its first-person view, CRTV and stealth

Screen Burn explains how limited vision, close combat, hiding places and motion controls reshape the series' horror.

Simon explora la niebla de St. Amelia en Silent Hill: Townfall

Screen Burn Interactive has explained how Silent Hill: Townfall adapts the series to first-person horror ahead of its September 24, 2026 launch. Simon Ordell explores St. Amelia with a deliberately restricted field of view and a 2.35:1 aspect ratio that forces players to watch the edges of the screen and listen closely to their surroundings.

The CRTV replaces the traditional radio's role. This handheld device can tune into different frequencies to reveal nearby enemies and pairs each new threat with a haptic pulse from the DualSense controller. Raising the map, reading a computer or searching for clues also occupies Simon's view and leaves him exposed.

Combat combines blocks and close-range strikes with firearms and throwable objects. Optional motion controls let players aim by tilting the DualSense. Fighting is not always the best option, however: Simon can crouch behind objects, peek from cover, break an enemy's line of sight and hide inside cabinets or lockers.

The perspective also displays brief fragments of Simon's thoughts directly on screen, bringing players closer to his state of mind. LanzaBit retains the September 24 date and the previously confirmed platforms — PS5 and PC — without attributing DualSense-specific features to the PC edition.
